Baptism is a sacrament of the church welcoming people into the community and care of Christ's church. It is a covenant between the person being baptized, for an infant it's between his or her parents, God and the church community. Baptisms most often happen in the context of community so are normally part of our worship service. This is a way the congregation can celebrate and share their support for the family and the child's starting on the journey of becoming a practicing Christian.
